LIGHT THERAPY
Light therapy is described as the exposure to daylight or electric light of specific wavelength using lasers, LED, fluorescent lamps or very bright, full spectrum light. Bright light therapy is most often used to treat patients with seasonal affective disorder using a light box (10,000 lux capacity). The patient’s eyes are to be at a prescribed distance from the light source with the light striking the retina. This is useful for people who are often looking for alternatives to medicine to treat conditions such as seasonal affective disorder, sleeping disorders, aggressive behavior in individuals with Alzheimer’s, or motor functioning in those with disabilities.
Problem: People are often looking for alternatives to medicine to treat conditions such as seasonal affective disorder, sleeping disorders, aggressive behavior in individuals with Alzheimer’s, or motor functioning in those with disabilities. Symptoms of these conditions are usually intensified by constant exposure to electric lighting.
Possible Solutions:
- Provide a lighting system that mimics daylight to treat seasonal affective disorder
- Introduce a lighting system that uses LEDs to help increase energy in cells that speed up the healing process
- Utilize super wavelength light that uses light therapy and stimulation to improve motor functions in those with disabilities
